Movie Fundraiser -  Eat, Love, Pray

6th of October

BECC will be the first people in NZ to see it before anyone else! Keep an eye out for information and tickets in your pockets – each family will have a small number of non-returnable tickets to sell.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

We have had an unconfirmed diagnosis of the H1N1 Influenza virus. Please keep your child at home if they have any flu like symptoms and they should not return to the centre until 2 days (48 hours) after all signs of flu have gone. In general a flu-like illness lasts 3-4 days but can be up to 7 days.

If children become unwell with flu like symptoms while attending BECC, they need to go home and be cared for. Please make sure you are able to be contacted if your child becomes unwell.

Signs and symptoms of the influenza virus can include *Fever (a temperature ? 38°C) *Cough *Sore throat *Runny or stuffy nose *Body aches *Headache *Chills *Fatigue *Some people also experience diarrhoea and vomiting.

If you require further information go to www.regionalpublichealth.org.nz

If your child has been unwell with this or any other illness, please check with a teacher, as per our Health/ Wellness policy, regarding their return to the centre environment.

We’d also like to remind you that Gladwrap is a choking hazard – if possible could you wrap your child’s food in lunch paper or use containers. If someone else is making up the lunchbox for you, please pass this information on to them too. Thank you.

CIVIL DEFENCE

The Christchurch earthquake is a timely reminder for us all to check our emergency plans. The centre’s Emergency Plan and Procedure is displayed on the wall above the cubbyholes, opposite the front door. This is a good time for families to look at their own emergency plans, and especially to make sure that here at the centre we have up-to-date emergency contacts for every child. In the event of an emergency, teachers are required to stay with the children for 48 hours.

School buddy visits. Starting from when we were in the school hall, 3 different Year 7/8 Brooklyn School students visit for 30 minutes on a Friday. These visits are going well.
